Nobuo Uematsu Confirmed As Final Fantasy IX Composer
March 26th, 2000 - Fans of Nobuo Uematsu (and we know there are plenty of them) can breathe a huge sigh of relief as Japanese Famitsu confirms him as Final Fantasy IX's musical composer.
Uematsu goes hand-in-hand with Final Fantasy - he has, after all, been musical composer for all eight previous to the upcoming ninth, so it would seem logical that he is in charge once more. But alas, rumours were rife - as they always are on the internet - that Square were giving him a rest in order to make way for fresh blood in the name of Ryuichi Sakamoto.
After the outstanding achievement that was the Final Fantasy VIII OST (yes, it was superb despite some fans' claims it was one of his worst efforts to date), we can only hope that IX's is as good; to loose Uematsu's magic touch in a Final Fantasy may prove costly, so lets just hope Uematsu-san is up to scratch for a ninth time...
